It’s really a shame their new record, It’s Blitz!, isn’t nearly this tough. Karen O sounds like she will EAT YOUR SOUL on this one, just like the good ol’ days before Maps was a pop radio hit. In fact, the whole EP has a nice relatively stripped down feel. They mostly stick to the three-piece drum/guitar/vocals format, letting the rhythm breathe a little and playing off each other rather than trying to fill everything in with a studio bassist or synths like they do on It’s Blitz.
